Installing and using Filters /Plug-ins in PSP

In this tutorial you will be shown a way of installing plug-ins that will not cause your program to slow down and crash.

Some plug- ins have to be installed directly into your PSP program in order to work, they are normally those that have an .exe file to install . The rest can be installed in the following way.

First , create a Folder on your hard drive to store them in. Using windows explorer, browse to your main hard drive, normally entitled the C Drive. Create a new Folder directly on the C Drive - right click and choose the option to make a new folder, and name it Plug-Ins.

Create folder

Now in order that PSP can now find your plug ins, you need to let it know where they are. PSP has the capability of accessing up to 3 folders of plug-ins.

Open PSP and go to File , Preferences, File Locations:-

File Locations

In the file types box on the left, select Plug-ins. On the right, tick the box that says enable plug-ins-allow the use, then click on Add:-

Choose Files

Now click on browse to find your new folder. Select it and click OK. The folder will now appear in the right hand box under the PSP default folder.

Close your PSP.

Never have PSP open while installing new filters or plug-ins or they will not work until you close it down and re-open, sometimes not even then .

If you are having trouble getting filters to work, you might need to download two small files to your Hard Drive.

MSVCRT10.DLL and PLUGIN.DLL

If you click the link Here and download the files then unzip them into your Windows/System Folder:-

Dll files

Once they are unzipped, open your PSP and try again. you might need to reboot your PC for this to work.

With the range of filters there are available to use in PSP (any photoshop compatible filter should work) the whole scope of the program now becomes available to you.
