What you will need for this tutorial.

Paint Shop Pro (PSP) any version - mine is done in X2

Animation Shop

Tube with close up of choice. I am using the awesome work of Ismael Rac. Ismael's work must only be used if you purchase a license and tubes through AMI.

Let's get started

Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels at 72dpi. Flood fill with white.

Now take your preset shape tool set to circle, line width 6, line style - opposing arrowheads - overlap, foreground colour one from your tube, background nil.

Line Style

Draw a fairly large circle and align center in canvas. Convert to a Raster Layer.

Now go to Effects, Texture Effects, Weave and use the following settings:-

Weave

Apply an Inner Bevel as follows:_

Inner bevel

Your frame should now look something like this:-

Frame

Duplicate the frame layer, and on the original add a Gaussian Blur of 20, then go to Effects, Texture Effects, Antique Mosaic and use the following settings:-

Mosaic Antique

Duplicate this layer, and on the original resize by 105%. Reduce the opacity of the duplicate to 20.
Now, on the duplicate frame layer, click inside the frame with your magic wand, expand your selection by 4. Add a new raster layer between the two frame layers, then flood fill this with a gradient of colours from your tube. I used the frame colour, and a paler blue, and the settings as below:-

Gradient

Copy and paste your close up tube over the gradient fill, invert the selection and delete to get rid of any excess tube. Change the opacity of this layer to about 45 . Add a drop shadow to this tube layer. A blurry one will work well. I used Vertical -2, Horizontal 2, Opacity 45, Blur 10.00 , Colour Black.

Add a drop shadow to the top frame of Vertical and Horizontal 2, Opacity 65, Blur 2, colour black. Repeat at Vertical and Horizontal -2.

Copy and paste your main tube, position and drop shadow as necessary.

Crop off any excess white and resize your tag to your preference.

Add your name in font and colour of choice. I'm using Cynthia Script and I used my paler colour as foreground and the gradient as fill. I added a drop shadow at vertical and Horizontal 1, Opacity 100, Blur 0.

Add the copyright, license number where required and your taggers mark if used.

Minimise this image for the moment.

Open a new canvas about 150 x 150 pixels, transparent background.

using the same two colours as previous line style solid, width 3, find your Symmetric Preset Shapes, Star and set it with 4 points.

preset symmetric star

Draw out a star and centre in canvas. Convert to a raster layer. Add Noise to this at the following settings:-

Noise

Duplicate this layer twice to give you three star layers.

On the middle layer change the brightness and contrast to Brightness 0, Contrast 20.

On the top layer, change the Contrast to 40. Delete the Raster 1 layer, and save this as a psp animation. (For earlier versions, you might need to take each layer to animation shop, then save as a gif)

psp animation

Open Animation Shop, and your star animation.

Maximise your tag and then copy merged into AS and paste as a new animation

You should now have both your star and main image as two separate images:-

animation shop

Duplicate your main image so that you have three frames .

Now click into the first frame of the star animation and then hit Ctrl + A to choose all frames.

On the top tabs, choose Animation, Resize Animation:-

Resize

Change the percentage to 20 , Resize Type Bicubic Resample:-

Resize Settings

OK.... click into the First Frame of your main image, and then CTRL+A to choose all frames, makes sure all the frames of the star are also still selected - they will all have a blue frame if they are.

Drag the star onto the first frame of the main image and place where you wish the animation to go. It should place itself on all three frames.

Go back to the star image , it will appear empty, click the undo button at the top , and the star will reappear. Now drag it to any other spot on your tag where a twinkling star.

Repeat this as many times as you want.

When you are happy with your tag, save as a gif.
