Space Mission
This tutorial is written by me using a FTU (Free to Use) Image by Darren Hiles. Any similarity to any other tutorial is coincidental . You may use this image in your creation as long as it is copyrighted as directed in the tutorial. The rest of Darren's work is available to use by purchasing a license. Details can be found on his site DHIL. Supplies Needed:- Paint Shop Pro The Render and brush (made by me) supplied Here Fonts - Decorative Elements and Frakturika Xenofex1.0 Baked Earth Eye Candy 4000 Please remember to save your work often as you go through the tutorial. There is nothing worse than losing everything if your PSP freezes or crashes when you are almost done. Also if you like to rename your layers as you go along, please do so. OK, open the fonts and minimise them so that they are available to use within PSP. Import your brush to the folder you keep your brushes in, and install any of the filters you needed to download. (Remember to restart PSP after installing filters as they will not work otherwise.) Open your image. Open the Darren Hiles image then Space +D to copy the image, close the original.:-
Look on the left of your workspace, locate your Layers Palette :
Right click into the blue area and promote your background to a layer:-
Right click again and this time duplicate the layer:-
Hide the original then making sure you have the copy as the active layer, go to Effects, Reflection Effects, Rotating Mirror:-
Use the following settings:-
Horizontal Offset 0, Rotation Angle 0, Wrap. Now in your layers palette change the Bland Mode of this layer to Screen and reduce the opacity to about 50:-
Right click and merge Visible:-
Duplicate your merged layer, and on the top layer go to Xenofex1.0 Baked earth:-
If you cannot get Xenofex1 , try using the PSP Texture/Tiles set at hexagonal and play about with settings until you find something you like instead. I used the following settings for Baked Earth;- Crack Length 40, Crack Width 1, Variation 100, Random Seed 13, Highlight Brightness 97, Highlight Sharpness 70, Direction 135, Inclination 45:-
Change the Blend Mode to Screen on this layer, and reduce the opacity to around 85-90. Go to your text tool and find the Decorative Elements Font. Using Background Colour Black, Foreground Null and using the following settings draw out three shapes to your liking and place down the left hand side of your tag. I used Capital D,G and J :-
When you are happy with the size and placement, convert to raster Layer and apply Eye Candy 4000 Glass with the following settings:-
If you haven't got Eye Candy 4000 try using an Inner Bevel of your choice. Next add Eye Candy Gradient Glow set at the Diffuse Yellow default settings, a blurry yellow drop shadow will work in place of Eye Candy:-
Now you need to create your Major Tom Text as a brush. Open the Major Tom Text and then click on your Brush Tool on the left Tool Bar, then click on the drop down in the top menu as on this screen shot:-
Open the menu from the drop down and click on the Icon at the bottom Right Hand Corner ,(if you hover over it it will say Create brush tip from selection):-
Open this up and save the brush as follows:-
Now, create a new raster layer,go to your brush Tool, find your new brush, and using white as your foreground colour apply the brush towards the top right of your tag.
Change your Blend Mode to suit your taste. I used Dodge in mine and I reduced the opacity to around 80. Now go to your text tool and find the Frakiturika Font to add your name to your tag. I chose one of the yellow colours from the tag #FFA206 as my background colour, foreground null in mine, Size 72 . Apply your text, stretch out to your liking and convert to Raster Layer. I changed the Blend Mode to Hard Light on mine and added a Drop Shadow at these settings:-
Now change your text tool to Arial, Size 22, foreground colour White, and add the copyright as follows:_ Render © Darren Hiles DHFTU www.opticalsorcery.com Position where you think is best on your tag, I placed it at the very bottom of mine. Convert to a Raster Layer , then Merge all your layers and save your tag as a jpeg. If you wish to save your image in layers, save as a psp image before you merge the layers.
Another example of the tag, using slightly different Decorative Elements.
