Simply Black and White

Courtney Black and White

What you will need for this tutorial.

Paint Shop Pro. My tag was made using version X2 but this can be made using any version.

Tube of choice. I've used a great image by James Courtney . Please read his T.O.U. (Please note there is a lot of AC on his site)

Alpha Dangle of choice - mine is from Dozibear, but any will do.

Filter - penta dot and cross (optional)

Font of choice - I used Libeled Lady

Let's get started.

Open a new image 550 x 550 pixels at 72 dpi and flood fill with white.

With your preset shape set to rectangle, line width about 20, foreground colour black, background a pattern or paper of your choice, mine is a pattern that came with my PSP, draw out a largish rectangle in the centre of your canvas.

Convert to a raster layer, then using your magic wand , click onto the black outline. Apply a texture effect or penta dot and cross with the following settings:-

penta filter

Apply an inner bevel :-

Inner Bevel

Using your rectangle shape again, varying your border colour from black, through the greys, and changing your pattern to other black and white patterns or papers, draw a variety of rectangles and place under your main rectangle. Use the same inner bevel on the borders of the rectangles.

You should now have something like this:-

rectangles

Copy and paste your tube and position to suit your tag. Drop shadow to suit.

Now copy and paste your alpha dangle and place over a corner of your main rectangle. Use your eraser tool to make the dangle look like it's over the frame.

With your background colour a silver or chrome gradient, foreground black, type out the rest of your name as a vector layer. Use the pick tool to angle the letters as necessary, then convert to a raster layer. Apply the same inner bevel to these letters as you did to the frames.

Crop off any excess white, and add your artist copyright, license number if needed and taggers mark if used.

Save your tag in your preferred format.
