Rio Christmas Tree

Rio Christmas Tree

What you will need for this tutorial:-

Paint Shop Pro - (PSP) any version, mine was done in X2

Animation Shop (AS)

Tube and Image of choice - I am using the awesome work of Al Rio . Al's work is licensed through C.I.L.M. and you must purchase tubes from them to be able to use them.

Corel Christmas Tubes

Mask of Choice

Triangle Preset Shape

Mura Meister - Copies

Eye Candy Glass (optional)

Font of Choice - I used Christmas Card

Let's get started :-

Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels at 72dpi. Flood fill with white.

Copy and paste your tube onto the canvas.

Mura Meister Copies -Wallpaper Rotate:-

Apply your mask to this layer .

Now with your triangle preset shape, foreground black, background nil, line width 10, draw out a triangle about 250 pixels high. Align horizontal centre and position towards the bottom of the tag. Convert to a raster layer.

Duplicate and resize 80% , position the duplicate about half way up your first triangle. Duplicate the smaller triangle and resize by 80% and again position further up, so you now have a basic Christmas tree shape. Merge the three triangle layers together, then with your erase tool, carefully erase all the centre lines. You need to end up with just the shape.

Tree shape

Using your magic wand, click into the centre of the shape, expand the selection by 2/3 and on a new raster layer flood fill with a gradient to match your tube. Drop this layer under your shape, copy and paste your tube as a new layer on top of the gradient, position and resize as necessary, then invert the selection and hit delete to get rid of any excess tube outside the shape. Selections none. Add a drop shadow, -2,2,60,4 colour black to your tube.

Make the shape layer active . If using Eye Candy Glass , apply with the clear glass setting, using a colour to suit your tube and gradient. Otherwise, Selections, select all float, defloat, flood fill with a colour of choice, and then apply an inner bevel. Apply the same drop shadow as before.

Merge the gradient, tube and shape layers together.

Duplicate this layer. On the original, move slightly down the canvas, then apply Mura Meister Copies - Cards:-

Cards

Lower the opacity of this layer to about 50.

Now add some Christmas accent tubes and arrange to your liking. I used the candy canes and baubles that come in the Corel Holiday Pack.

Drop shadow as before.

Add your name with a Christmas Font of choice, I used Christmas Card.

Add your artist copyright , license number and taggers mark if used.

If you do not wish to animate, save as either a jpeg or png.

Now to animate the tag to finish it off.

Close off all layers apart from your baubles. Copy and paste as a new animation in AS.

Effects - Insert Image Effect Rotate Colours:-

rotate colours

Back in PSP, close off the babel layer, then copy merged the rest and paste as a new animation in AS.

Duplicate until you have 13 frames.

In both of your animations, click, into Frame 1 and then hit CTRL+A to select all frames.

Drag the animation with the baubles tube onto the background, being careful to line it up where you want it to be.

If you are happy with your animation, save as a gif.
