Pretty In Pink
What you will need for this tutorial:- Paint Shop Pro - (PSP) any version, mine was done in X2 Animation Shop (AS) Tube and Image of choice - I am using the awesome work of Tom Hoover. Tom's work is licensed through My PSP Tubes and you must purchase tubes from them to be able to use them. Mura Meister - Copies Eye Candy 5 Impact (optional) Font of Choice - I used Larkspur. Let's get started :-
Open a new image 600 x 250 pixels at 72dpi, flood fill with white. Copy and paste your tube and place to the right of your canvas. Duplicate and Mirror. Apply Mura Meister Copies set at Line Rotate:-
Then add a radial blur.
Duplicate this layer and change the blend mode of the duplicated layer to screen. merge visible Your background should now look something like this :-
Hide your background layer for the time being, so you can see what you are doing for the next stage. Add a new raster layer. With your paintbrush set at square, with foreground colour a colour from your tube or background :-
Starting at the co-ordinates x20, y20 create a line of squares across the canvas. Make sure the y co-ordinate stays at 20, and leave a 20 pixel gap between each square. Duplicate this layer and flip. Merge the two layers together.
Add a drop shadow to this layer of :-
Duplicate this layer 4 times, to give you a total of 5 layers, name these 1 - 5 from the bottom up. With your magic wand, click into the upper left hand square, and then the 5th one across from it twice. Repeat on the bottom row, but start at the bottom right:-
Flood fill this with a lighter colour from the same palette. On the next layer, choose the square next along. Repeat this on each layer, moving one square along each time. Now with your background colour set to a foreground background gradient of your two colours, use your rectangle preset shape to draw a thin rectangle, the same width as your squares on the left hand side of your canvas. Convert to a raster layer, duplicate and mirror. Add the same drop shadow to this as you did to your squares.
Copy and paste your tube and position to the right of the canvas. Give this a nice blurry drop shadow. I used Eye Candy 5 Impact- Perspective Shadow at the Drop Shadow Blurry preset-
Add a new raster layer, select all, contract selection by 2/3, then invert and flood fill with your gradient. Drop shadow at :-
Now add your name with your font of choice. I used Larkspur, and used my gradient as the background colour. Now add your artist copyright, license number where required, and taggers mark if used. Now to animate the tag to finish it off. Make sure you only have the bottom squares layer 1active, then right click into the image and copy merged. Take this to AS and paste as a new Animation on the workspace. This becomes Frame 1. Back in PSP, close off the bottom squares and open the 2. Copy merged. In AS right click into Frame 1 and choose Paste After Current Frame . Repeat , closing off layer 2, and opening the layer 3. Right click into Frame 2 and paste after current frame. Repeat this for all the squares layers, making sure you always paste the new layer after the last frame in AS. You should end up with an animation with 5 frames. Change the frame properties to 25 then save as a gif.
