Pretty as a Flower

Rac Pretty as a Flower

What you will need for this tutorial:-

Paint Shop Pro any version, mine was made in X2.

Tube and close up of choice . I used the awesome work of Ismael Rac which is licensed through AMI. You will need to buy the tube from them if you wish to use the same one.

Mask of choice - I used Becky Mask 23

Ribbony Bow of choice.

Font of choice - I used Glider Girls

**

Let's get started :-

Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels at 72 dpi and flood fill with white .

Pick two spring/summer colours and set your foreground and background colours, then set your foreground as Foreground/Background Gradient, Linear, Angle 45, Repeats 1.

Add a new layer, flood fill with your gradient and then apply your mask. Merge group. If your mask is on the pale side, duplicate the layer then merge the two mask layers together.

Now using a flower shape from your preset shapes, I used Flower 5, draw out a fairly large flower using one of the patterns that comes with PSP, or a scrap paper of choice. Create this as a vector, align centre in canvas, then convert to a raster layer.

Add an inner bevel to your shape :-

Inner Bevel

Now add a drop shadow :-

Drop Shadow

Change you shape to circle, and using a different pattern or paper , draw out a circle about two thirds the size of your flower , align center, convert to a raster layer.

Centre shapes

Selections, select all, float, defloat.

Copy and paste your close up tube and position over the circle. When you are happy with it's position, invert the selection and hit delete to get rid of the tube that overhangs the circle. Change the blend mode of this layer to screen.

Screened Tube

Now, with your foreground set to one of the gradient colours, background nil, line width about 6, draw out a small rectangle and position to the top and left of the flower. Duplicate this and position so that there is a small gap between the two rectangles. Merge these two layer together and add the same inner bevel as before.

Change your palette so that the foreground colour is now your background colour, foreground nil, and draw a small thin rectangle to make the other two look as if they are joined in the centre. Drop this rectangle under the merged pair and then merge together.

Your shapes should look similar to this:-

rectangles

Click into the centre of the frames, expand selection by 2, add a new raster layer and flood fill with the other colour from your gradient. Drop this layer under the frames. Effects, texture, weave as follows:-

Weave

Keep the selection, and then copy and paste your tube and position over the rectangles. When you are happy with the position, invert the selection and hit delete to get rid of excess. Change the blend mode of this layer to Multiply.

Now copy and paste your tube again and place to the right hand side of the tag. Drop shadow the tube, and also the rectangle frame layer.

Add your bow and any other elements you wish to finish off the tag.

Crop off any excess white, resize to suit your taste.

Using a scrawly type font, I used Glidergirls, foreground the darker of your two gradient colours, background the gradient, line width 1.0, add a saying and position to the bottom of the tag. I added "Pretty as a Flower"

Change the background colour to white, and add your name so that it site over the saying.

Add the same inner bevel and drop shadow to each of the text layers that you used before.

Add your artist copyright, license number where required and taggers mark if used.

Save as a jpeg or png to your preference.
