Baier out of the Lines

 

What you will need for this tutorial:-

Paint Shop Pro - (PSP) any version, mine was done in X2

Animation Shop (AS)

Tube and Image of choice - I am using the awesome work of Steve Baier. Steve's work is licensed through Up Your Art and you must purchase tubes from them site to be able to use them.

Mura Meister - Copies

Mura Meister - Clouds

Richard Rosenman - Scan lines

Eye Candy Glass (optional)

Font of Choice - I used Lima Bean

 

Let's get started :-

 

Open a new image 600 x 250 pixels at 72dpi.

Copy and paste your tube onto the canvas.

Mura Meister Copies - Line :-

Copies

Adjust the number and x, y settings so that the tube covers the canvas.

Duplicate this layer.

On the original layer , Gaussian Blur at 15.

On the duplicated layer, Richard Rosenman Scan lines -

Scanlines

Change the blend mode of this layer to Overlay and reduce the opacity to about 50%.

Merge layers visible.

Apply scanlines again but change the settings as below:-

Add a new Raster layer, set your foreground and background layers to two colours from your tube and apply Mura Meister Clouds:-

Merge Visible

Copy and paste your tube, resize and position to the left of your tag. Crop to size and add a blurry drop shadow.

Add Xero Porcelain with all the colour settings at 0.

Add a new Raster Layer, Selections - Select All, Contract by 4/5, Selections Invert.

Flood fill with a colour from your tube. Add a drop shadow, 1,1,50,5, repeat at -1,-1,50,5 - black.

Add you name using a font of your choice. I used Lima Bean .Position and when happy with it, convert to a Raster Layer I added Eye Candy Glass at the default settings to mine, then used the unsharp mask at default.

Add your artist copyright , license number and taggers mark if used.

Now to animate the tag to finish it off.

Close off all layers apart from your background. Copy and paste as a new animation in AS.

Effects - Insert Image Effect Stretch :-

Click into Frame 1, Ctrl+A , copy all frames and paste as a new animation.

Making sure that all frames are still selected, reverse frames, select all. copy,then click into frame 6 of the original animation and paste after current frame.

Change the frame properties to 35, and then those of frames 1, 6,7 and 12 to 75

Back in PSP. close off the background layer, copy merged the remaining layers and paste as a new animation in AS.

Duplicate until you have 12 frames.

In both of your animations, click, into Frame 1 and then hit CTRL+A to select all frames.

Drag the animation with the main tube onto the background, being careful to line up the frame into the edges.

If you are happy with your animation, save as a gif.
