Supplies Needed

PSP, I'm using PSP X1 but this tutorial should work with any version.

Tube of choice. I'm using a lovely fairy by Caron Vinson, www.caronvinson.com Caron's work is licensed, and you can buy a license and tubes at CILM

Mask and font of choice, I used Becky Mask 42, and Harrington Font.

Open a new image 600x600 pixels at 72dpi resolution. Flood fill white.

Add a new raster layer and flood fill with a pale colour from your tube. I chose #CFE8D9 in mine. Apply the mask of your choice. I used Becky Mask 42.

Copy and paste your tube and place centrally in your canvas. Duplicate the tube layer twice , to give you three tube layers and name them Tube 1, Tube 2, Tube 3 from bottom to top.

Close off the top two layer and make Tube 1 your active layer.

Now on your top tab, go to Effects- Distortion Effects- Wind:-

Locate Wind

Apply this effect twice, first from the right with wind strength at 50 as shown in the next screen shot:-

Wind Settings

Then change the Wind Direction to left at the same strength. Still on the bottom tube layer , go to Effects - Texture Effects- Mosaic Glass:_

Mosaic Glass

I used the following settings:-

Mosaic Settings

Number of Columns and Rows 75, Glass Curvature 4, Edge Curvature 0, Grout Width 2, Grout Diffusion 25, Symmetric Checked. Change the blend mode of this layer to Exclusion and resize by 90%.

Now open your Tube 2 Layer. We're going to make this layer into a ball. So go to Effects- Artistic Effects- Balls and Bubbles :-

Balls and Bubbles

To apply this effect you need to set quite a few tabs, so just look at each screen shot carefully:-

Balls 1

On the first tab, the shape tab make sure you have single ball or bubble ticked . Now click on the Surface Tab:-

Balls 2

Material White, Opacity 15, Shininess 50, Gloss 0, click on Maps Tab:-

Balls 3

Check the Bump map setting and then click the drop down box:-

Balls 4

Find the stone setting on the drop down. Then click the Illumination tab:-

Balls 5

Ambience 50, Light 1 highlighted, Colour white, Highlight size 33. When all these are set click on OK.

Now, let's go to the Tube 3 layer. Go back to the Bubble effect and find the preset clear bubbles:-

Clear Bubbles

Make sure that Single Bubble is clicked and then press on OK. You should now have an image which looks something like this:-

Finished Ball

OK, now on your top layer take your magic wand with tolerance set at 20 click into the area outside of the ball. Expand this selection by2, then make the background layer active and hit the delete button. Select none and Merge Visible.

Your image is now probably a bit on the large size, so resize by about 80%, making sure all layers is checked. Then Adjust - Sharpness- Sharpen.

Now take your Preset Shape, Ellipse tool, and draw a circle as a vector layer around the edge of the image, but inside the edge of the ball - see screen shot below for placement - with line width 2, any colour as this will be deleted :-

Vector Circle

Now with a font of your choice, I used Harrington on mine, and a colour to complement your tag, add your text around the top of the circle.

Now click on the + sign in the layer palette on the vector layer, and x out the circle:-

Hide Vector Circle

Now convert the layer to a raster layer , and add a drop shadow :-

Text Drop Shadow

Now add your copyright information, license number if applicable and taggers mark. When happy with the position and look of everything Merge Layers Visible. Make sure you don't Merge Flatten as we don't want the background to be white, we want the ball to be able to lay on any colour background.

Export your tag as a png.
