Little mermaid

What you will need for this tutorial.

Paint Shop Pro , any version. I am working with X2.

Animation Shop

Tube of choice - I have used a cute mermaid by Regan Kubecek . This tube was bought when Regan Kubecek's tubes were available through MPT.

Filters - Italian Editors -Effetto Tv and Picture in Picture.

Sinedots 2

Font of Choice - I used Chopin Script .

Let's get started

Open a new image 600 x 250 pixels at 72dpi. Flood fill with white.

Add a new raster Layer and flood fill with the Metallic Blue Gradient that comes with PSP with the following settings:-

Gradient

Now go to your Italian Effects Filters and apply Effetto Tv with the default settings as below:-

effetto tv

Then on the same layer apply Italian Editors, Picture in Picture:-

Picture in Picture

Now with your background set to your gradient, foreground nil, preset shape - rectangle, draw out a rectangle across your canvas. You want it to be about 45 pixels deep and to start at about 120 on your vertical axis :-

Convert to a Raster Layer and apply Sinedots 2 :-

You should now have something like this:-

Stage 1

Now using your preset shape tool set to square, line width about 12, foreground your gradient, background nil, draw out a square and align vertical on the right hand side of the tag.

Convert to a raster layer, then with your magic wand click inside the square, expand this selection by 4, add a new Raster Layer and drop below the square. Flood fill this with a pale shade from the gradient.

Add a new layer, copy and paste your tube and position in the frame, resize to suit. Change the blend mode of this layer to Luminance Legacy. Drop shadow the tube and the frame. Merge these three layers, and make sure you are happy with the position of the square.

Stage 2

Now copy and paste your tube and position to the left of the tag. Using your freehand selection tool, set to point to point, draw around the area of the tube you wish to animate. Duplicate the layer twice, giving you a total of three tube layers. X out the top two layers for the moment.

On the bottom layer, Add Noise:-

Add Noise

Repeat this for the other two layers, increasing the Noise by 5 each time. Drop shadow each tube layer.

With the top tube layer active, add a new Raster Layer. Selections, Select All, Modify, Select Selection Borders, set at 8 :-

Selection Borders

Flood fill this with your gradient and add a drop shadow.

Now add your name, the copyright, license number where necessary and taggers mark if used.

Making sure you only have the bottom main tube layer visible, right click into the image and copy merged. take this to Animation Shop , right click into the workspace and Paste as a New Animation.

Back into PSP, x out the bottom tube layer, open the middle one, then right click and copy merged again. Right click onto your first frame in Animation Shop and Paste After Current Frame.

Repeat this with your top layer, clicking into Frame 2 in Animation Shop.

Save your tag as a gif.
