LIGHTSPLASH
Supplies needed:- PSP - I am using PSPXI but this will work in most versions. PSP Tube - The one I used is by Renee Biertempfel ,www.artbyrenee.com, and is licensed through CILM. You may not use her images without the appropriate license. Licenses and tubes can be obtained at CILM . Mask - I made my mask from one of my own photographs and it is in my supplies Here. Font of choice. I used Lumos which can be downloaded from Dafont Filter Visman Natural Lightsplash which you can get Here Open your mask, tube and font and minimise them until needed. Remember to save your work often so that if your program or pc crashes you do not have to start from the beginning again. The tutorial appears to be quite long, but that is mainly because I have included a lot of screen shots to help you.
Open a New Image 500x500 pixels 72dpi and flood fill white. Add a new Raster layer and flood fill with a colour from your tube. I used #B08FA6 for mine. Now find the Red5 mask I supplied :-
Make sure the Source Luminance, Fit to layer, and Hide all Mask boxes are checked. Click into the mask layer in your layer palette and merge group. Now go to Effects - Reflection Effects- Rotating Mirror:-
Set the effect at the default settings:-
Horizontal Offset 0, Rotation Angle 0, Reflect Checked. You should hopefully now have something like this:-
Copy and paste your tube and place it centrally towards the bottom of the image. Duplicate the tube layer and hide the duplicate for the time being. On the original layer, go to Adjust- Blur- Gaussian Blur:-
Apply the blur at Radius 15:-
Now go to Effects - Distortion Effects- Twirl:-
Set the twirl angle to 450, and apply. Change the Blend Mode of this layer to Hard light:-
Duplicate this layer 5 times , to give you a total of 6 layers. Hide all bar the original layer. Rename these layers 1-6. Make sure Layer 1 is active and locate the filter Visman Natural Lightsplash:-
On this layer use the following settings:-
Center X 117, Center Y 139, Rotation 166, Rays 54, Intensity In 41, Intensity Out 75. Repeat this filter on each of the other twirl layers, reducing the Rotation by 20 each time. So you should have layer 2 at 146, Layer 3 at 126, Layer 4 at 106, Layer 5 at 86 and Layer 6 at 66. Open your tube layer back up and apply a drop shadow of choice. I used:-
Repeat the drop shadow , changing the Vertical to 3 and the Horizontal to -3. To soften the edges of the tag, I added one of the frames that comes with PSP:-
You need to have the Frame Canvas, and Frame OUtside of the Image checked. Before adding the text and copyright layers, if you wish to resize your tag now is the time to do so. I resized mine by 90%:-
Make sure you have the Resize All layers Box checked. You might need to re sharpen your tube layer if it has lost some of it's clarity. Now for the text. Set your Background colour to a colour which will stand out on the masked layer. I chose an orange from the twirl #CE4812 , and set the font to the following:-
Makes sure you create the font as a vector so that you can stretch and move it. I chose to place my text Vertically on the tag. When you are happy with your text, convert it to a raster layer and add a Drop Shadow :-
Vertical and Horizontal 1, Opacity 90, Blur 0, Colour Black. Now add your copyright layer, license if applicable and taggers mark. At this stage you should have something like this:-
If you don't want to animate your tag, save it in layers as a psp image first, then merge all flatten and either save as, or export as jpeg. If you are going to animate it, make a cuppa and then open Animation Shop. Ok,in PSP, make the background layer your active layer, and make sure you have the twirl layer 1 open. Right click into your image, and click on Copy Merged:-
Now in Animation Shop, right click into your workspace, and click on the paste A New Animation Box that will appear:-
Your merged image will now appear as Animation 1 in the workspace:-
So far so good!!!. Go back to PSP, hide Twirl 1, and open 2:-
Right click into your image again, and copy merged. Now right click into your Animation 1 Image in animation Shop, and choose the Paste After Current Frame option:-
Repeat this procedure with each twirl layer in turn, until you have all six layers, as six frames in AS. Now click into the first of the six frames and press CTRL + A . This selects all the frames. Right click again and choose copy:-
Right click into the workspace and paste as a new animation. Click into the first of these six frames and CTRL+A again. Look at the top tool bar and find Animation - Reverse Frames:-
Click into the first frame again and CTRL+A, right click and copy . Now click into the sixth frame of your original animation:-
Now right click into that sixth frame, and use the paste after current frame option. You should now have 12 frames in your animation. Close the six frame image you reversed. We are almost finished you'll be pleased to hear. Click into Frame 1 again, and the CTRL+A. Now right click into the frame and go to Frame Properties:-
I set the display time to 20 in mine:-
Now run the optimization wizard:-
Hopefully you will have set this up with the settings shown in my tutorial Here If not do that now. Once they are set they should normally be retained by the program. The settings in my tutorial will work for most of your animations. Occasionally you might have to play with them to suit your tag. Now you are ready to save your animation as a gif.
