Jessamyne Tag
This tag was made for a competition run by AMI, and won first place.

What you will need for this tutorial.

Paint Shop Pro (any version, mine was made in X2)

Animation Shop

Image and tube of choice - preferably the tube of the image. I am using a wonderful piece by Tony Mauro . Tony's work is licensed through AMI , and you can buy tubes and your license from them.

EBD MAsk 6 from Enchanted By Darkness (click on Navigate, downloads and download Masks 1)

A few accents or elements of choice. Mine came from a FTU scrap kit by Bel Vidotti called Alone, but you may use whatever you want.

Filters - Visman Instant Art

Penta - Jeans (In Garbage Collection Set)

Let's get started

Open your Image, tube , mask and elements in PSP and minimise for now. OPen your chosen Font on the desktop and minimise.

Open a new image 600x600 pixels at 72dpi. Flood fill this with white. Open your image and decide which part of it you would like to use to create your background.

Using your Freehand Selection Tool set at Feather 20:-

Freehand Selection Tool

Now draw around the part of the image you have chosen;-

Selection from Image

Copy and paste this selection onto your white canvas, then use your pick tool to stretch it so that it almost fills the canvas.

Now find your filter, Visman Instant Art, Spiders Web, and apply with the following settings:-

Spider Web Settings

Rays 53, Rings 111, Merging 0 .

Now go to layers, mask from Image and find your EBD Mask 6 in the drop down menu , apply with the following settings:-

Mask Settings

Source Luminance, and Invert Mask Data are checked. You should now have something like this:-

Masked Image

If you have a fairly dark image like mine, you may wish to reduce it's opacity, I set mine to 80.

Now find your penta.com, jeans filter and apply with the following settings:-

Jeans Settings

Amount 62, Border Width 4.

Now copy and paste your tube, and elements of choice onto the image and position as required. Give each of them a drop shadow of choice.

Layered Image

Choose a colour from the tube and add your name at the base of the tag, or wherever suits your image.

Resize your image to suit your preference.. I resized mine by about 80%.

Add your copyright, license number if necessary and taggers mark.

If you do not wish to animate, you can now either merge all your layers and save as jpeg, with the white background, or delete the white background and merge visible and save as a png.

To animate this tag, close off your tube, elements and all text, then merge visible, the mask and background layers.

Copy this merged layer and paste it as a New Animation in Animation Shop.

Go to effects , insert image effect:-

Insert Image Effect

Find the Underwater Effect in the drop down menu, and apply with these settings:-

Underwater Effect

Click in the Customize Tab and apply the following settings:-

underwater settings

Effect length 1.2 secs, 4 Frames per second , click OK. Your image will now have 5 frames. Right click into frame 1 and delete:-

Delete Frame

Now click into the first frame, CtrlA to choose all layers, then right click and adjust the frame properties:-

Frame Properties

Set the display time at around 25. If you wish to slow it even more choose 30 or more.

Now go back to PSP, hide the merged layer and copy merged all your other layers. Paste this as a new animation in Animation Shop. Click into this frame then hit Ctrl +L 3 times, this will give you four frames.

You should now have two animations , one your underwater background, and the second your tube. Make sure you still have all the frames selected in each of these.... you can tell by looking at the border round the frames, if each frame has a blue border they are all selected.

Now on your tube animation, drag the animation across to the background layer and position where you wish it to sit . You should now have 4 frames like this:-

Completed Frames

I resized mine to take the screen shot so that all the frames showed.

Run the optimization wizard, and after clicking on customize, make sure the Optimized Octree setting is checked:-

Optimize Setting

Now save your tag as a gif.
