In Bed By Nine
What you will need for this tutorial:- Paint Shop Pro - (PSP) any version, mine was done in X2 Animation Shop (AS) Tube of choice - I am using the awesome work of Barbara Jensen . Barbara's work is licensed and you must obtain both a license and tubes direct from her store to be able to use them. Christmas Accent Tubes from Corel or Scraps of your choice. Swirly brush of choice. Becky Mask 22 or Mask of choice. Eye Candy 4000 - Glass and Gradient Glow Xenofex 2 - Constellation Font of Choice - I used Segoe Script and Christmas Card Remember to save your work as you proceed. Let's get started :-
Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels at 72dpi and flood fill with white.. With your preset shape tool set at ellipse, foreground black, line width about 6, background nil, draw out a fairly large oval as a vector and centre in the canvas .Convert to a raster layer. Using the magic wand, click into the centre of the oval, expand this selection by 2. Add a new raster layer, and flood fill with a gradient to suit your tube. Effects blinds:-
Selections, select all, float, defloat. Add a new raster layer then with your foreground set to white, apply your swirly brush over the gradient background. Selections none. Make sure both these layers are below the black frame. Click into the black frame with your magic wand, then apply Eye Candy Glass :-
I used green as my colour as it was the other predominant colour in my tube. Change the colour to suit your tube as necessary. Close off the background layer, and merge visible your oval layers . Preset shape rectangle, background nil, foreground black draw a rectangle down the canvas, so that it is slightly bigger than the height of your oval. Centre in canvas, then convert to a raster layer. Drop this below your oval. Select the centre of the rectangle, expand the selection by 2, add a new raster layer below the rectangle and flood fill with your gradient. Texture Effects -Tiles:-
Click into the black rectangle and apply the Eye Candy Glass effect as before. I changed the colour to the main colour of my gradient, but you can keep to the contrast colour if your wish. Merge these two layers together, then rotate by 30 left.
Duplicate this layer, then mirror. Merge two rectangle layers together. Add a new raster layer above your background layer. With your airbrush set to soft fuzz, spray the canvas under your shapes, almost forming a circle. You want to be able to see the colour around the outer edge of your shapes. Now apply texture Effects - Mosaic Antique :-
Apply your mask to this layer. Merge group then duplicate if you want a darker layer. Merge the mask layers. Then duplicate twice. X- out the top two layers for the moment. Copy and paste your tube onto the canvas and position to the bottom of the oval. Drop shadow. Now add any Christmas accents and bows you wish to the tag. You can also add some text to your tag if you wish. If you do not know how to add text on a curve like mine, then see my tutorial Here . Once I had added my text I applied a Gradient Glow:-
I used the medium setting but changed the colour. Now add your name, copyright and license number, and your taggers mark if used. If you don't want to animate your tag, you may now save it as a png or jpeg. To animate, make sure you have your mask layer as the active layer, then apply Xenofex - Constellation
Repeat this on the other two mask layers, hitting the random seed button on each. With your two mask layers still hidden, copy merged and paste as a new animation in AS. Back in PSP, hide the first mask layer, and open the middle one. Copy merged, and then right click into your first frame in AS and paste after current frame. Repeat this, closing off the middle layer and opening the top one. paste this after the second frame. If you are happy with your animation, save as a gif.
