Hidden Depths
What you will need for this tutorial:- Paint Shop Pro - (PSP) any version, mine was done in X2 Animation Shop (AS) Image and tube of choice - I am using the awesome work of Dark Yarrow . Her work is licensed through Dreamscape Imaging and you must purchase tubes from them to be able to use them. Fonts of Choice - I used Broadway BT and International Palms Let's get started :-
Open a new image 600 x 250 pixels at 72dpi, flood fill with white. Add a new raster layer, selections , select all. Copy and paste your image into the selection. Gaussian Blur at 15.00 then add a Motion Blur:-
Duplicate this layer. Effects- Artistic Effects, Balls an Bubbles and apply with these settings:-
Now go to Edge Effects , Enhance More and change the blend mode of the layer to Soft Light. reduce the opacity to about 42. Your image should now look something like this:-
Close off the bubble layer for the moment and make the original blurred layer active. Pick a colour from your tube as a foreground colour, background nil and with your rectangle preset shape, line width about 4, draw a rectangle almost the height of the tag , see my example for size and placement. When you are happy with it's size, convert to a raster layer. Click in the frame with your magic wand, expand this selection by 2, then copy and paste your tube under the frame. When you are happy with it's position, invert the selection and hit delete to remove any excess tube. Effects- Artistic Effects- Halftone with the settings below:-
Change the blend mode of the tube to Luminance L . Take your text tool, and with the thicker of your two fonts, type out the words Hidden and Depths with white as your background colour, foreground nil. You will find this best to do on two layers so that you can get the spacing between the words right. When happy with the size and placing , convert to a raster layer and change the blend mode to Overlay. Open the bubbles layer.
Now copy and paste your tube and position on the right hand side of the tag., Drop shadow if you wish. Add a new raster layer, selections, select all, modify , select, selection borders:-
Now go to your first background layer, copy , then paste into your selection border. Add your name with a nice script font, add a drop shadow or gradient glow to suit your preference.
We are now ready to animate your tag. Close off your main tube, name and copyright information. Merge visible the rest of the tag. Copy the merged layer, and paste this as a new animation in AS. Go to effects, insert image effects:-
Choose underwater. use the settings in the screen shots below:-
Now click on ok, you will now have 6 frames, delete frame 1. Back in PSP, hide the merged layer, and then copy merged the remaining layers. Paste this as a new animation on AS. Ctrl +L - 4 times. This will duplicate your image to give it 5 frames the same as the animation you just made. Now , in your underwater animation, click into the first frame and press Ctrl +A to select all frames. Repeat this in your second animation. Now drag your second animation into the first frame of the underwater animation, be careful to make sure that the borders fit to the edges. Save your tag as a gif.
