He Loves Me ... He Loves me Not
Supplies needed:- PSP - I am using PSPXI but this will work in most versions. PSP Tube - The one I used is by Rachael Tallamy ,www.rtallamy.com, and is licensed through her. You may not use her images without the appropriate license. Licenses and tubes can be obtained at her site . Becky Mask 22, My Star Brush ,Mura Meister Pole Transform, DSB Flux Bubbles all supplied in my supplies Here Font of choice, needs to be a Fat Font. I used Impact which comes with Windows. Open your ,tube and font and minimise them until needed .Import your brush to PSP. If you need to know how to do this , please look at the tutorial Here. Put the mask into your masks folder. Remember to save your work often so that if your program or pc crashes you do not have to start from the beginning again. The tutorial appears to be quite long, but that is mainly because I have included a lot of screen shots to help you. Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels, 72 dpi Resolution, we will crop this down to size later:-
Flood fill this layer with white:-
Add a new raster layer:-
Flood fill this layer with a colour from your tube. I used #7C8B4E for mine. Now go to Layers- Load Mask from Disk:-
Locate your Becky Mask 22 and click on load:-
Make sure that Source Luminance, Fit to Canvas, and Hide All Mask are checked. Right click into the Mask Layer in the Layers Palette and merge group:-
rename this layer Mask 1.You need two mask layers to create the effects for behind your tube, so right click into the Mask 1 later and duplicate it:-
Rename this Mask 2. X out the mask 1 layer for the time being, and make sure that Mask 2 is your active layer.
Go to Effect, and locate your Mura Meister Pole Transform Filter:-
Apply the filter with the following settings:-
Y start 0, Y End 200, Center X 100, Center Y 100, Radius Start 0, Radius End 200, Angle 0, Perspective. Click OK to apply. Duplicate this layer, then go to Image -Flip:-
Now hide these two layers, and go back to your Mask 1 layer. Locate your DSB Flux Bubbles Filter:-
Apply with the default settings:-
Bubbles 46, Density, Frequency and Tune all at 50. Lower the opacity of this layer to about 46 :-
Now go to Image - Resize:-
Resize the Mask 1 layer by 85%:-
Use the Bicubic setting, aspect ratio locked, and the resize all layers box unchecked. Make the top layer active, and copy and paste your tube. Place it centrally on the image. Add a drop shadow:-
with the following settings:-
Vertical -4, Horizontal 4, Opacity 40, Blur 4, Colour Black. Then repeat the drop shadow changing the Vertical to 4 and the Horizontal to -4. Rename this layer tube. You should now have something like this:-
Make your top mask layer active again and add a new raster layer. Now locate the Star brush which you imported earlier:-
With a contrasting colour from your tube, click the brush a few times till you get a nice depth of colour:-
I positioned mine to to top left of the tag, see the example for a guide. Now let's add some rays to the star using the Pen tool:-
Set the tool to Draw Lines, with the line style dashed , Width 2:-
Now click onto the top tip of the star, hold the shift key down and draw a line towards the top of the tag. Then click on apply. Convert this layer to a raster layer:-
Now draw more lines from each point, and from the angles of the star. Close off the tube, masks and background layer, right click into one of the star layers in the layers palette and merge all your star layers visible:-
If you feel the colour needs a little more depth, duplicate the star layer , then merge visible again. Rename this layer Star. Make your tube layer active and locate your text tool:-
Set this at Size 72, with the background colour a dark colour from your tube, foreground null:-
Type your name and stretch to your liking. Position towards the bottom of the tag. When happy with the size and position , convert the layer to a raster layer and rename text .Add the drop shadow you used on your tube the second time, but change the colour to the same as you used for your star. Reposition the text to suit your tag .Duplicate this layer, and close off the duplicate. On the original text layer go to Adjust- Blur- Motion Blur:-
Apply this with the following settings:-
Now before we add the copyright layer and animate the tag, we will resize it. Go to Image - Resize, and use the following settings:-
Resize by about 75% depending on your preference and this time make sure Resize All Layers is checked. Now you will need to sharpen each layer to restore the pixels to their original clarity.
OK, now add your copyright layer, license if applicable and taggers mark. If you do not wish to animate your tag, save it now as a psp image in layers for layer use, then merge all layers and save or export as a jpeg.
If you do wish to animate we have just a few more steps to take. Make the star layer active and duplicate it twice. X out the top and bottom stars and make the centre one active. Now go to Adjust- Brightness and Contrast- Brightness and Contrast:-
Set the layer with the following settings:-
Now hide that layer, and make the top one active. Change the settings to Brightness 50, Contrast 20. Now close off the top star and open the bottom one. Now we are ready to take the image to Animation Shop. Make your background layer the active layer and then right click into the image. Click on Copy Merged:-
Now right click into the Animation Shop workspace, you will see this:-
Click on it and your image will appear in Animation Shop:-
Now go back to Paint Shop, close off the bottom star layer, and open up the middle one. Making sure the bottom layer is still the active layer, repeat the copy merged. Now in Animation Shop right click into the first frame you pasted just now, and paste this second frame after the current frame:-
Almost there.... back to Paint Shop, close off the middle star and open the top one, repeat the copy merged, and then right click into the second frame in Animation Shop and paste after current frame again. You should now have three frames in Animation Shop. If you go to View- Animation you can see what your animation is going to look like:-
Now go to File - Optimization Wizard:-
If you have already set these you should be able to just click next as each box appears. If you have not set them, use the tutorial here to set it up. Once set it should keep the settings and you will find it suitable for most of your tags. Now go to File- Save As:-
Give your tag a name, and save as a gif. The example below uses the same tube, but a slightly different brush and mask, and I also drew the lines on the fancy font using the same settings as rays on the star.
