Giada Turning
What you will need for this tutorial:- Paint Shop Pro - (PSP) any version, mine was done in X2 Animation Shop (AS) Tube and Image of choice - I am using the awesome work of Giada Calo. Giada's work is licensed through Dreamscape Imaging and you must purchase tubes from them to be able to use them. Filter -Eye Candy 4000- HSB Noise Redfield - Lattice Composer My Brush - Here Font of Choice - I used Aquarelle Let's get started :-
Open a new image 600 x 250 pixels at 72dpi, flood fill with white. New Raster Layer, selections, select all. Copy and paste your image into the selection. Add a Gaussian Blur at 20. Duplicate this layer. On the top layer go to Effects, Texture Effects- Sandstone, with the following settings:-
Change the blend mode of this layer to Screen. Merge down. Duplicate this merged layer. On the duplicate go to redfield Plugins - Lattice Composer, and choose 8 Crosshatched from the drop down:-
Change the Blend Mode of this layer to Screen. Merge Visible Your background should now look something like this:-
Using your preset rectangle shape, foreground #C0C0C0 background nil, line width 5, draw rectangle and position to the left of the canvas. When happy with size and position, convert to a Raster Layer. Add an Inner Bevel:-
With your magic wand, click into the rectangle on the right side of your canvas, expand selection by 2. Add a new raster layer below the frame and flood fill with #808080. Effects, texture effects, Blinds with the following settings:-
Copy and paste your tube and position on the blinds background , invert the selection and hit delete to get rid of the excess tube. Lower the opacity of the tube to about 40. Add a new raster layer, and use the brush I have supplied, over the tube, you might need to increase it's size slightly. Use white for your colour. Add Eye Candy 4000 , HSB Noise, Transparent Haze settings :-
Make sure your background layer is turned off, then merge visible the frame layers.
Copy and paste your tube and position to the right of the canvas. You need to have well to the right to give room for the page turn effect on the left hand image. Drop shadow your tube. With your freehand tool, draw around the part of the tube you wish to animate. I chose the headdress:-
Duplicate this layer twice, to give you 3 tube layers. Add HSB Noise with the same settings as before. Hit the Random Seed button on each of the three layers. Selections none. Add your name, artist copyright, license number if required and taggers mark if used. Add a new raster layer, selections, select all, select selection borders:-
Flood fill with black. We are now ready to animate your tag. Close off all layers except the rectangle image layer. Copy this layer and take this to AS and paste as a new animation. This is your frame 1. Duplicate the frame. Now go to Effects, Insert Image Transition - Page Turn
You should now have nine frames. Back in PSP, close off the rectangle, and open the background, 1st tube layer and copyright layer - copy merged, and paste as a new animation in AS. Back in PSP, close tube layer 1, open 2, copy merged. In AS, right click into Frame 1, and choose paste after current frame. Repeat this with tube layer 3, this time right clicking into your Frame 2. Click into Frame 1 and then press CTRL + A to select all the frames. Right click and copy. Right click into Frame 3, and choose paste after current frame, you now have 6 frames, click into Frame 6 and repeat the paste, giving you 9 frames in total. Click into Frame 1, CTRL+A, now go to the page turn animation. Click into the first frame, CTRL + A, and then drag the image onto the larger animation. Change the frame properties to 18. Now back in PSP, close off everything except the border and your name. Copy Merged. Paste as new animation in AS, and duplicate until you have 9 frames. ( Hit CTRL +L 8 times) Select all frames on both animations, and drag the border animation onto the main one. Be careful to line up the edges. Save your tag as a gif.
