What you will need for this tutorial.

Paint Shop Pro - any version. Mine was made in X2.

Tube of choice. I am using the lovely work of Kathleen Lowe. Kathleen's work is licensed through CILM and in order to use her work , you must buy a license and tubes from them.

Preset shapes - Dodecagon and a florally shape I used Div 38 but. I cannot supply this shape as I do not know the makers tou.

Fonts of choice - I used Lucida Calligraphy and Matura MT Script.

Remember to save your work often.

Let's get started

Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Pick a darkish colour from your tube, and set this as the foreground colour in the colours palette. Find your preset shape - dodecagon, with line width 20, foreground your chosen colour , background nil, and draw a fairly large shape in the centre of your canvas, align centre then convert to a raster layer.

Dodecagon

Using your magic wand, select the shape you drew. Go to effects, distortion effects, polar coordinates:-

polar coordinates

Polar rectangular

Promote the selection to layer in your layers palette. You should now have something like this:-

Second Stage

Move this layer down slightly , then merge it down onto the dodecagon layer.

Go to effects, texture effects, weave and apply with the following settings:-

Weave settings

You need to choose colours which blends with the colour of your frame.

apply an Inner Bevel, of Choice, I used the following:-

inner bevel

Add a new raster layer between your background layer and the frame. With the frame layer active, use your magic wand and click into the centre of the frame. Expand this selection by 3, then on the new layer, flood fill it with a gradient of choice. I used a gradient called earth, with Linear Style,Angle 45, repeats 0.
Go to Effects, texture effects , Blinds and apply with the following settings:-

Blinds

Reduce the opacity of this layer to about 75
Copy and paste your tube above this layer. Invert the selection and hit delete to get rid of any excess tube.

Drop shadow your tube to your liking, I used:_

drop shadow

Close out the background layer and merge visible your three layers .

Duplicate this merged layer, then on the original layer, add a Gaussian Blur of about 5 then go to Effects, Geometric Effects, Circle :-

Geometric Circle

Circle Settings

Resize this layer by 110% and reduce the opacity to about 50.

Duplicate this layer, and on the top layer go to Effects, texture effects,Mosaic Antique, with the following settings:-

Mosaic antique

With the preset shape Div 38, Foreground your Frame Colour, Background your Gradient, draw out a small shape, add the inner bevel you used on the frame , drop shadow and place it to the right hand side towards the bottom of the frame. See my example for size and placements. Duplicate this layer and mirror the image.

Add as many of these shapes as you wish to decorate your tag. I merged all mine together and Sharpened them to make them more distinctive.

Shape Decorations

Find your dodecagon shape again, and draw out a slightly bigger shape than you did before, with just a foreground layer set at about line width 2. The colour doesn't matter at this stage. Align centre, but do not convert to a raster layer. Now using a font of choice, I used Lucida Calligraphy for mine, hover the text tool over the top of the shape until you see the A with the curve under it. Type out your quote of choice. Mine is:-

"Faith Sees a beautiful Blossom in a Bulb, A Lovely Garden in a Seed, and a Giant Oak in an Acorn, William A Ward."

When you are happy with the size and position of your text, x out the vector shape, then convert the text to a raster layer. Add the same inner bevel as before, and a drop shadow of:-

text Drop Shadow

Using a different font, mine is Matura MT Script, Background your frame colour, Foreground your Gradient, add your name to the tag. Inner bevel and Drop shadow as for the quotation. Sharpen if you wish.

Resize your tag to your preference, then add your copyright and license number if required, and taggers mark if used.

Save as either a jpeg or a png to suit your preference.
