Fright Night
What you will need to complete this tutorial. Paint Shop Pro - I am working in X2, but this should be achievable in any version. Animation Shop Tube of Choice - I am using the work of Daniel Esparza. Daniel's work is only to be used if you have the appropriate license. Both licenses and tubes can be obtained from CILM. Halloween accents of choice - mine came with my PSP. Font of choice- I am using Halloween Bats.
Let's get started Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels and flood fill with white. Set your background layer to a colour from your tube, foreground nil and draw our a reasonable size circle in the centre of your canvas. Align Center and convert to a raster layer. Now right click on your Circle in the layer palette and pick Properties:-
Choose Layer Styles, and click on inner glow, layer, and a colour to match your tube and circle:-
PLay about with the Size and Opacity until you are happy with the result. Duplicate this layer . On the original, add a Gaussian Blur of about 10
Still on the original layer, add Effects, Texture, Blinds with the following settings:-
I used the colour that I used for my Inner Glow for the blinds colour. Move this layer slightly to the left, duplicate and mirror. You should now have something like this :-
Add a drop shadow to your top layer:-
I used Vertical and Horizontal 4, Opacity 40, Blur 4, Colour Black, then repeated changing the Vertical and Horizontal to 4. Copy and paste your tube onto the canvas, resize to suit. Right click on properties in the Layer palette, Layer Styles, and this time choose Outer Glow :-
This will give your tube a Spooky Effect. Now add a few of the Halloween Tubes found in your PSP. Add each on on a new layer so that you can move them round to suit. I also made the broomstick look as if it was between the fingers. Add the Outer Glow as you think suits your tag. Now duplicate your tube layer twice to give you a total of three layers. Hide the top two for the moment. Take your magic wand and select some areas you want to make flicker and glow:-
Now go to brightness and Contrast and Adjust the Contrast as follows:-
On the bottom layer, the contrast needs to be about 80, on the middle layer, -20, and on the top layer 30. Select None. Crop off any excess white on your tag. Resize to your liking. Now add any text and your name. I used a Font called Halloween Bats on mine. Add the copyright, license number where needed and any taggers make you may use. Okay.... now make sure you only have the bottom tube layer open, background layer active, right click into your image and copy merged:-
With animation Shop open, right click into the workspace and paste your merged image as a New Animation:-
Now go back to PSP, close off the bottom tube layer and open the middle one, copy merged again, and take this back to AS. Right click into the first frame, and choose to paste after current frame:-
Repeat this process with the the third tube layer. Click into the first frame and press Ctrl + A to select all layers. Right click and choose Frame Properties.... change the display time to 15:-
View your animation, and if happy save as a gif.
