Framed In Wood
I hope you enjoyed these tutorials. I always love to see your end results, so please me them so that I can add them to my gallery. What you will need for this tutorial:- Paint Shop Pro, any version. My example was made in X2. Tube of Choice. I am using a gorgeous image by Jennifer Janesko. Jennifer's work is licensed through CILM and you must buy the tube from them if you wish to use it. My Supplies - Here Filters - Eye Candy 4000 Becky Mask 22 or mask of choice. Font of choice - I used Al Sandra
Let's get started. Open a new image 500 x 500 pixels at 72 dpi and flood fill with white. Add a new Raster Layer and flood fill with a colour from your tube, apply the mask to this layer. With your rectangle preset shape, background colour black, foreground nil, draw out a thin rectangle across the canvas, you want it to be about 50 pixels deep. Apply Effects - Distortion Effects - Wave with the following settings:-
Now go to Eye Candy 400 - wood and use the default settings at Teak:-
Free rotate this waved line by 7 Left. Duplicate and Flip, arrange so they make the top and bottom of your frame then merge the two layers together. Now draw another rectangle vertically on your canvas, about 50 pixels in width. Apply Effects Geometric effects - Perspective Vertical:-
Apply the same teak effect as before . Duplicate this , mirror and arrange to form the sides of the frame. Merge the two layer together and then drop these below the top and bottom frame. Add a drop shadow to both these layers. Now change your shape to ellipse, circle and draw a small circle and position on the top left joint of the frames, using black as your background colour as before. Apply Eye Candy 4000 Chrome with the Hammered Aluminium preset at default.:-
Add a drop shadow, then duplicate this three times and position one on each joint.
Now with your magic wand, click into the centre of the frame, expand your selection by about 10 so that it is larger than the gap. Add a new raster layer and drag this under the frame. Flood fill with a colour that compliments your tube. Now go to Eye candy 4000 Weave and apply as follows:-
Now copy and paste your tube , duplicate, position one copy under the frame and one over it. You should still have the inside of your frame selected, but if not make the same selection as before, invert, then on the bottom tube tube layer hit delete. Now use your eraser tool and carefully erase any parts of the tube on the top layer that you don't wish to see. Copy and paste the element supplied colourise, duplicate and position on the top right, and bottom left of the frame. Now using the dark colour #AC3E58 as foreground and #F7B4CF as background, make a foreground/background gradient as your background, draw a long thin rectangle from the top right hand flower element down to the bottom of the frame
Apply wave to this as follows:-
Duplicate this ribbon and then using your puck tool rotate both so they follow the angle of the side of the frame. Drop shadow the elements, ribbons and the bottom tube layer. Now add your name in the script font of your choice , I used Al Sandra. Drop shadow of choice. Add the artist copyright, license number where required, and taggers mark if used. Save as either a jpeg or png as preferred.
