Bubbles
This tutorial was written by me in January 2008 and uses an image by Ted Hammond. Ted's work is licensed and his tubes are available to purchase through CILM. His work can be seen at www.tedhammond.com Any similarity between this and any other tutorial is purely coincidental. Supplies Needed:- Paint Shop Pro Animation Shop Tube, Mask, Brushes and Font of Choice (I used Becky Mask 020, Bubbles Brushes from TFe brushes, and Monika Font) Mura Meister's Copies available Here Simple Filters Top Left Mirror available Here My Scrap Kit Here With Paint Shop Pro closed, unzip the filters and put them into your plug ins folder. If you do this with the program open the filters will not work. Now you can open it up and we can start the tag. Don't forget to save your work regularly and to rename your layers if you find this easier for you. Open your tube, font and the scrap kit and minimise them until you need to use them. Now open a new image about 600x600 and flood fill with white. Select your ellipse tool, set your foreground to pattern and find the Pink Needles paper from the Scrap Kit. at angle 0, Scale 130:-
Make sure your background colour is set to null:-
Now with your line width set at about 15, draw a large circle as a vector. Align this circle in the centre of your canvas:-
Now colourise your circle to match your tube if necessary, and convert to a raster layer. Copy and paste your tube and place it in the circle . I made mine look as if the hands were resting on the bottom edge:-
Duplicate your tube layer, and x out the duplicate for the time being. Go back to the original tube layer and give it a Gaussian Blur set at 30
Now go to Effects, Mosaic Antique and apply with the following settings:-
Columns and rows set to 50, Tile Diffusion 70, grout width 2, Grout diffusion 50. Click ok. If you are using a tube like mine, you will see that this effect has gone outside the circular frame. To get rid of this, on your circle layer , click into the white area with your magic wand.:-
Now go back to your original tube layer ,hit delete on your keyboard , and the excess mosaic will have disappeared. Selections none. Make your white background your active layer and copy and paste the Pink Texture Paper from the Scrap Kit as a new layer. Make sure if meets the edges of your circle, if it's a little too small just make it a little larger using either your deform tool, or pick tool depending on which version of PSP you are using. If you colourised the first paper, do the same with this paper. Now on your circle layer click inside the circle with your magic wand. Go to Selections, Modify, expand:-
Expand this selection by 3.
Now Invert the Selection:-
Go back to the Pink paper Layer and hit delete. The excess paper will now have disappeared. While you are on this pink layer, add a new Raster Layer, and apply a few brushes of your choice . I used some Bubble Brushes using white as my foreground colour.
Now on your original tube layer change the Mode to Burn or a Mode which you prefer for your tube.
Un X your copy tube layer and give it a drop shadow of choice. I used Lokas 3d on mine, but play around until you find a setting which suits your tube. Hide your white background layer, click into one of the other layers, right click and Merge Visible. Now we are going to add some extra touches to the tag to make it a bit more interesting. Duplicate your merged image, and then on the original go to Mura's Copies , and apply the following settings:-
With this layer active still apply the mask of your choice and then lower the opacity of this layer to about 45 . Your tag should now look similar to this:-
On your copy of the merged layer, add a drop shadow of choice. Now copy and paste the Pink Swirl as a new layer, resize it by 50%, Sharpen and place at the top left of the circle.Add a subtle drop shadow.
Find Your Simple Filters, and locate Top Left Mirror:-
Click on OK, and you will now have the swirl on 4 places on your tag. I love this filter, saves duplicating, mirroring and flipping images. Now cut and paste the Slinky as a new layer and position at the bottom of your tag between the bottom swirls. See my finished tag for placement. Drop this layer under the Swirls layer. Copy and paste the Flower as a New Layer, and then the spot. make sure the spot is central in the flower then merge the two layers together .Resize by 50%, Sharpen and move to the left hand side of the circle. Duplicate this layer and mirror it, then merge the two flower layers. This is what your tag should be looking like now:-
Now choose your Font Tool with the following settings:-
Picking a background colour to match your tag,I used #E42652, foreground null, type your name as a vector layer. Using the nodes stretch it out and angle it to your liking. Once you are happy with its size and position convert it to a raster layer. Now add the following bevel:-
Bevel2, Width 7, Smoothness25, Depth 7, Ambience 11, Shininess 27, Colour White. Angle 135, Intensity 25, Elevation 71. Then add the following drop shadow:-
Vertical -1. Horizontal 1, Opacity 75, Blur 1, Colour Black. If you do not wish to animate your tag, resize it to your liking, add your Copyright and Watermark or Taggers mark, then merge all your layers and save as a jpeg. If you going to animate your tag, read on:- Make your layer with the two flower accents the active layer, then choose the selection tool set to circle and Add(Shift):-
Starting in the centre of the spots inside the flowers, select the whole of the spot , then duplicate this layer twice so you have three flower layers. X off the duplicate layers. Leave the spots highlighted .
On the original layer, go to Brightness and Contrast/Brightness and Contrast, and use the following settings:-
Brightness 20, Contrast 10 . X off this layer and open the second duplicated layer and repeat the Brightness and Contrast settings as on the first layer. Now de-select. You might find it useful to rename these layers 1,2 and 3. Now close off all three layers , and highlight one of the other layers . Right click into the highlighted layer and Merge Visible. Crop any excess white:-
Then resize your tag to suit your needs:-
Now add your copyright layer and taggers mark, and merge that to your merged layer. Your layers Palette should now look like this:-
Now open the first of your flower layers, right click into your tag and copy merged . Open Animation Shop right click into your workspace and paste this as aNew Animation.
Now close off the first flower layer, and open the second, copy merged, right click into the image in AS and then paste after current frame :-
Close off the second layer and repeat the above with the third flower layer. Save as a gif, and your tag is made.
