Animation 2
This tutorial is designed to show you how to create a simple flashing effect using the Brightness and Contrast Tool within PSP.
Supplies needed:-PSP - I am using PSPXI but this will work in most versions. PSP Tube - The one I used is by Ted Hammond,www.tedhammond.com, and is licensed through CILM . You may not use his images without the appropriate license. Licenses and tubes can be obtained at CILM . Font of choice. I used Miss Lankfortl available Here. My Supplies Here, includes Frame and Brush made by me, please do not share these or use them in other tutorials without my permission. Open your psp tube, import your brush and open your font and minimise until you need them. You are now ready to start making your tag. Remember to save your work often so that if your program or pc crashes you do not have to start from the beginning again. The tutorial appears to be quite long, but that is mainly because I have included a lot of screen shots to help you. Open a new image 500 x 500 pixels, 72dpi resolution:-
Flood fill this layer white and rename it background. Copy and paste the silver frame supplied onto your canvas. Pick a medium, colour from your tube and set your foreground to it. Set your background to white. I use #EBBCCB for my foreground colour. Click on the gradient button on the foreground colour:-
Set your gradient to foreground/background, style linear, Angle 0 , Repeats 0:-
Your colour should be at the top, white at the bottom, if it's not un tick the invert box. Make sure your frame layer is active and click inside it with your magic wand:-
Now got to Selections - Expand:-
Expand your selection by 5:-
Keeping selection active make your background active layer, right click and add a new layer:-
Now flood fill with your gradient, rename the layer fill then Selections - None :-
Your image should now look something like this:-
Copy and paste your tube onto the fill layer and position it so it fits nicely into the frame, resize so it if necessary, and rename the layer tube: -
Add a drop shadow to your frame and tube layers:-
Use the settings above, vertical and Horizontal 2, Opacity 50, Blur 6. Make your fill layer active, and add a new raster layer. Now find the brush you wish to use, I have supplied an orchid brush that I made myself, but any brush will do.
I used the following settings for my brush, for the smallest flowers, just changed the size to vary them:-
Use a different layer for each brush so that you can move them round to your liking. When you are happy with your brushes, x out all the layers apart from the brushes, right click into one of the brush layers, and merge visible:-
Rename this layer , brush. I changed the Blend Mode of my brush layer to Multiply:-
Now let's add some text to our tag. With your frame layer active, find your text tool:-
I used the following settings:-
I used white as my background colour, and foreground null. Type your name out making sure you have it set to create as vector, and stretch the text to your liking. Position to suit your tube.
When you are happy with the size and position, convert the vector to a raster layer.
Add a drop shadow to your text with the settings Vertical -1, Horizontal 1, Opacity 75, Blur 1 :-
Now add your copyright, license and tagged by layers. Now we are going to get rid of the excess white. X out the background layer, and make any of the other layers active. Locate your crop tool:-
Now look at the top tool bars and locate the snap crop rectangle tool:-
Check that the rectangle that appears around your image doesn't look too close to your image, then click on apply:-
We are now ready to add our animation to the tag. Make your fill layer active, and duplicate it twice, to give you three fill layers:-
Now x out the two copy layers and make sure the original fill layer is active:-
Go to Adjust- Brightness and Contrast:-
apply with the following settings:-
Brightness 10, Contrast 5. Now repeat this on the other two fill layers, changing the brightness to 15 on the copy, and 20 on copy 2. OK, now to take your image to Animation Shop.make the white background layer active.
Now right click into your image, and click on copy merged:-
Right click into the workspace in Animation Shop, and click on Paste As New Animation:-
Your first frame should now be in position:-
Go back to Paint Shop and x out the fill layer, open the copy and make it active:-
Right click in the image, and copy merged. Right click into your first frame in AS and paste after current frame:-
Back to Paint Shop, x out the copy and open the second copy:-
Copy merged again, then right click into the second frame in Animation Shop and paste after the current frame. You should now have all three frames in AS. Click into frame 1, and you will see a blue box around the frame, now press CTRL + A , the blue box will now be around all three frames. Right click into the first frame, and select Frame Properties:-
Change the setting to 30:-
Go to View, View Animation and run your animation:-
If you are happy with the speed etc of your animation, go to optimize:-
Run the optimization wizard. Check your settings are those in the tutorial Here . If you have set them previously they should be set, so just press next on each of the screen shots that appear. Now save your image as a gif.
